Be a Trim-Tab. World renown Richard Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller was an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, and inventor. Fuller published more than 30 books, coining or popularizing terms such as “Spaceship Earth”, ephemeralization, and synergy. He has only these words on his gravestone:

“Think of the Queen Elizabeth Cruise ship operated by the Cunard Line — the whole ship goes by and then comes the rudder. And there’s a tiny thing at the edge of the rudder called a trim-tab. It’s a miniature rudder”

“Just moving the little trim-tab builds a low pressure that pulls the rudder around. The rudder then turns the entire ship. Takes almost no effort at all. So, I said, a little individual can be a trim-tab.” Bucky then said, “Call me Trim-Tab.’”

Synergy requires co-operation

Start co-operating stop competing on all levels. The reward: synergy. Synergy only operates when one is co-operating.

“Together everyone is better!”

We are not alone; the world is converging. Other earthians are aligned with this message. Sean Silverthorne in his article To Solve The World’s Biggest Problems, Should Industries Cooperate More and Compete Less?

Silverthorne aligns with He makes the point that most business want to do good. They recognize that there are many issues that need to be addressed co-operatively, environmental practices being just one.

Addressing these issues co-operatively is critical.

Cooperation creates synergy and “the synergies of synergies” creates global abundance.

Sixteen-year-old Warren Cassell Jr. in his most recent book Swim or Drown: Business and Life Lessons that I’ve Learned from the Ocean is part of the global co-operative tribe.

In his blog post, Why Cooperation Is Better Business Than Competition, he disagrees with the idea of a “top-player”.

The idea you need to do everything you can to be the “top-player” in your field, means “Eat or be eaten” or “Slay or be slayed” is a pitfall. The position of “top player” is an illusion. We all offer our unique features and strengths. The definition of the top is impossible to determine because of this.

In the 1980’s Buckminster Fuller, one of the greatest minds ever, demonstrated competition is now counter-productive. Given all the technological capabilities now present, it is feasible to take care of everyone if we co-operate.

In the 1980’s Buckminster Fuller did the math. There is far more to go around for everyone than anyone presently has.

Abundance is now possible when people co-operate.

Selfishness is no longer necessary; it is no longer mandated to survive. In fact, competition slows global abundance from happening.
In fact, the opposite is true; the more you co-operate the more abundance you will have. The new paradoxical reality is “sharing is having more”.

This abundance starts with the behavior of the individual.

As Michael Bloomberg’s as in his Top 10 Rules For Business and Success.

#10 is Collaborate. Bloomberg says:

“You don’t do anything by yourself. Nobody just works for one person or just works for themselves, nobody does anything independently, we deal, and whether it’s your family, your outside life, your business life, or whatever.”

Bloomberg should know; he’s the seventh richest person in the United States.

This “sharing is having more” starts with individuals co-operating with like-minded others. They form a small group of committed earthians who are creating an abundant world.

When this is done we all can, within a decade, be living a higher standard of living than anyone is now.

Become a member of a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens committed to global co-operation.’s mission is to support everyone (all earthians) to live at a higher standard of living than anyone is now. provides

“The individual’s grand strategy:”

According to Bucky, Be a Trim-Tab. What you do with yourself, just the little things, is what counts.

A comprehensive is interested in everything. The more comprehensive one can be the more effective one can think and, when acted upon, the better the outcomes.

I am a comprehensivist
